(Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is a rapid and effective treatment for trauma and is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) as an effective treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
EMDR can be used as an integrative psychotherapy approach. It has been extensively researched. It uses protocols and elements from many psychotherapy approaches.
It enables healing from symptoms of emotional distress that are the result of disturbing or traumatising life experiences. If the processing system of the mind becomes imbalanced through the impact of a life event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes.
